[Red and white bow] Since the knot can be easily retieed any number of times, it is used for celebrations or gifts of gratitude that can be repeated any number of times.
(Example) It is mainly used for celebrations such as Okuizome (a ceremony held on the 100th day after a newborn baby's birth), Shichigosan, school entrance/graduation, coming of age, and other events to celebrate a child's growth, as well as for celebrations of birth and longevity. It is also used for midyear and year-end gifts, and for "uchiiwai" (gifts in return).
[Red and white knot] Because the knot does not come undone easily, it is used for celebrations that are hoped to happen only once. Typical gifts include wedding presents, get well gifts, and gifts for recovery.
[Black and white knot] It is used in front of the deceased's soul and as an offering before and after the funeral.
